William 'Dummy' Hoy - "Resilient"

William 'Dummy' Hoy was a Major League Baseball center fielder from 1888-1902. He played for the Cincinnati Reds for 5 seasons (1894-1897, 1902). Hoy is the most accomplished deaf player in MLB history. He is credited by some with helping to establish signals for safe and out calls. In 2003, Hoy was inducted into the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame.
